#AskScout24: What does a Digital Marketing Manager do?

Alexandra Zinnow is a driven PPC Lead in our Digital Marketing team at Scout24. In this recent interview, she shared some insights into how she started here, her proudest achievement so far, and the qualities you need to be successful in digital marketing—especially in areas such as paid social campaigns and search engine advertising (SEA).    

Firstly, could you please introduce yourself? How long have you been at Scout24?  

Alexandra: I lead the PPC team in the digital marketing department of ImmobilienScout24. This coming summer (in 2020), I will have been working here for 15 years. Wow, time has flown! 

How did you get into Digital Marketing?

Alexandra: Actually, it was a coincidence how I ended up in Digital Marketing. After completing my studies, my focus was on retail marketing, which led me to a job in Frankfurt am Main. Over time unfortunately, I felt unsatisfied with the city, yet my job kept me there. The opportunity arose to apply as a trainee at ImmobilienScout24. I had my first interview with one of the founders and as they say, the rest is history!  

What qualities do you need to be successful in this field?

Alexandra: Above all, you must be flexible. On the one hand, to stay ahead with the constantly changing market conditions, and on the other hand, to be willing to test new trends and strategies to stay ahead. 

Also, you should move away from a pure silo mindset to a strong cross-channel approach. Ideally, you should have a strong affinity for data and deep analysis – and to understand the what, where, how, and who. 

Be a strong communicator and team player. Collaborating and sharing experiences within the team, and across other teams as well, is very important. This is not only master projects more effectively and efficiently, but also to create synergy across the team.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

Alexandra: I am very proud that we, as a team, have taken the automation of bidding and related processes across various channels to the next level. We’ve reached our goals here and are excited for the year ahead.

How would you describe #WorkingAtScout24 in three words?

Alexandra: Innovative, team-focused, challenging (in a good way!).
