People Behind Products: Meet Johanna  Gröscho,  Product Marketing Manager 

Johanna started her career at ImmoScout24 as an apprentice in marketing communications. Since 2017, she has been a full-time member in the B2C Marketing department. With the product MieterPlus, the team helps property seekers find a new home efficiently and digitally. In the interview with us she reveals what she is particularly proud of and which function is essential for her.

Johanna, you have been working at ImmoScout24 since 2014. What is your current job?

Johanna:   I am currently working as a Product Marketing Manager in the Consumer Journey. Here, we focus on property seekers and help them find a new home easier and faster. But we also try to support them with the best solutions during and after their move. 

In September 2014, I started my apprenticeship as a marketing communications specialist at ImmoScout24 and focused on B2B marketing with the target groups of providers for construction financing & moving companies. During my apprenticeship, I had the great opportunity to get to know other departments such as SEO, PR, online marketing, etc. Towards the end of my apprenticeship, my then team took over the responsibility for our B2C products such as the MieterPlus Membership (which was still called "Premium Membership" at the time) or the Schufa-BonitätsCheck (credit check). I found it very exciting that we use digital products to simplify our users' search for a new home and guide them along the way. That's why I decided to stay in B2C marketing and started as a Junior Marketing Manager in July 2017.   

MieterPlus  is  one of your “babies.” How would you explain to a child what this product is all about? What is ImmoScout24 trying to solve by developing this product?   

Johanna:  With MieterPlus, we help property seekers to find the home they are looking for in an efficient and digital way. In doing so, we provide the seeker with a wide range of functions, such as a digital applicant portfolio including the Schufa credit check, chance analysis with more information on the exposé. With the Plus membership, seekers land at the top of the landlord's inbox and receive early access to new exclusive advertisements. This gives the Plus members the opportunity to improve their position with the landlord.  

In addition, MieterPlus also includes other services such as a service charge check, legal advice on tenancy law and an emergency key service. The product therefore not only helps you find the right home faster, but also when you have already moved into your dream home.    

Are there any milestones that you are particularly proud  of  when thinking about  MieterPlus?  

Johanna:  The overall development of the product made me very proud. In the beginning, the product "only" included the digital applicant portfolio. Today, you can get advice on tenancy law, have your service charge statement checked free of charge and have the option of taking out a rental deposit guarantee and thus save the deposit. With this product, we not only help people find their dream home, but also make the search as easy as possible. 

MieterPlus  is a very versatile product but if you had to pick one feature which one would you choose?   

Johanna:  I think the chance analysis is great. The seekers can see how long an ad has been online and how many hits it has already had. In addition, they can see how many contact requests the provider has already received and whether their own profile matches the landlord's wishes or ideas. Even privately, I have already received feedback: “Oh cool. I can see more now. The data gives me a good overview of my chances and helps me find my dream home more quickly. “     

What’s in store for the future? Will there be new features?    

Johanna:  Data protection is currently a very important topic, especially in the application process. Many seekers don’t know which information the landlord or provider is allowed to receive and which not, so they often send very sensitive data at the first contact. The seeker and the landlord should be better protected against this. Our credit check therefore only asks for the data that the landlord really needs and is much more data-saving than the usual Schufa information.
