What we do in the company

ImmoScout24 is part of the Scout24 Group, which manages sustainability centrally for all participating subsidiaries. Comprehensive information on Scout24's sustainability strategy can be found here.

We are committed to responsible corporate governance. We have therefore developed a cross-location climate strategy to reduce our ecological footprint in the long term. Our goal is clear:

  • medium-term: reduce at least -69.8% of Scope 1 + 2 and -50.4% CO2e of Scope 3 emissions by 2030 compared to the base year 2018 and
  • long-term: reduce a total of 90% of our absolute emissions of Scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 2045 compared to the base year 2018.

To achieve our targets, we will continue to follow the approach: avoid, reduce, offset. As planned, we began in 2025 by making a voluntary investment in a certified climate protection project equivalent to the total emissions reported for the 2024 fiscal year.

We have implemented the following measures since the strategy was introduced:

Climate protection & energy consumption

As a non-manufacturing company, the greatest impact we can have on environmental and climate protection lies in managing our own energy consumption. To reduce greenhouse gas emissions, we source 100 per cent green electricity wherever contractually possible. At the ImmoScout24 headquarters in Berlin, we use green energy exclusively. By 2030, we aim to switch all Scout24 Group offices entirely to green electricity.

In our carbon footprint reporting, we have also been disclosing, since the 2021 reporting year, the greenhouse gas emissions generated on the product side by our marketplaces. Contributing factors here include website hosting, our data transfers and the use of the marketplaces via our users’ devices.

Employee mobility

All our employees are encouraged to avoid business trips wherever possible. Instead, we are increasingly relying on video and web conferencing. We have equipped all of our locations with video conference rooms and provide our employees with the appropriate technical equipment. If business travel cannot be avoided, we are increasingly relying on rail travel instead of air travel. Our travel policy from 2021 stipulates that business trips within Germany, where the destination can be reached within a maximum 4.5-hour train journey, must also be completed by this means of transport. Our own vehicle fleet is already 84% electric and will be fully electrified by the end of 2026.

Resource consumption

Even as a non-manufacturing company, our goal is to conserve resources - if possible. Our resource consumption mainly relates to the use of paper and IT equipment, and everything associated with them. We already use products based on recycled materials to a large extent - such as sustainably produced or recycled paper. To keep paper consumption as low as possible, we have configured to stall personalized print queries and configure black-and-white prints as a default on our printers.

Waste & Recycling

We avoid waste as far as possible and ensure that waste is separated and disposed of in accordance with the law. In addition, we work with our partner AfB Social and Green IT, for example, which professionally recycles and, where possible, refurbishes discarded IT equipment at its Berlin and Munich sites. We offer some of the refurbished devices to our Scout24 employees for private resale. Extending the useful life of the devices not only saves resources, but also reduces CO₂ emissions.
