What we do for society

Home Street Home

Together we want to give homeless people a second chance. The HOME STREET HOME initiative is a cooperation between the homeless initiative ONE WARM WINTER and ImmoScout24. Our aim is to help people who currently have no roof over their heads to find accommodation. What is missing is housing - and the right information. That's why we are targeting landlords with HOME STREET HOME, providing information about the benefits, processes and background - and trying to convince them to offer their apartments on ImmoScout24 to social organizations that place them with homeless people. From October to December 2023, ImmoScout24 also donated one euro to Housing First organizations for every new MieterPlus membership taken out. This raised EUR 200,000 by the end of the year.

Knowledge transfer - the Berlin Social Academy

In 2013, Scout24 founded the Berlin Social Academy (BSA). It is the first Berlin-wide business cooperation project to support local civil society. The idea behind it: Many employees of non-profit organizations need specific expertise for their voluntary work, but do not have sufficient financial resources to pay for further training. During the annual BSA, professional know-how is therefore passed on pro bono by company employees in workshops, webinars or individual coaching sessions. In 2018, the initiative was awarded the special prize of the Berlin Business Award, the German Volunteer Program Award, and has been nominated for the German Engagement Award in 2019.

Corporate Volunteering

The Scout24 Social Summer is our central corporate volunteering format, which gives employees the opportunity to get involved in social, environmental or cultural projects during the summer months. In the period from the end of May to the end of August 2023, we completed a total of 537 hours of charitable work, exceeding our target of 500 hours. We achieved strong satisfaction and recommendation rates among the participants. Most of the participants helped to organize Unionhilfswerk activities, such as an inclusive beach day or accompanying an excursion with senior citizens. Sorting donations of goods and clothes for refugees was also very popular.

Partnerships

Scout24 maintains long-term partnerships with various organizations. For example, we have been cooperating closely for many years with the Berlin-based Sozialhelden e. V. We provide the organization with premises, infrastructure and our technical expertise at our Berlin office location. In return, the Sozialhelden support us in making our products and services even more accessible to people with mobility and visual impairments. For example, the search criteria on ImmoScout24 can be adjusted with regard to step-free access to apartments. The so-called Wheelmap in the maps within all listings shows wheelchair-accessible locations in the vicinity of the properties. This is found not only in the object exposé, but also in the results list. Thus, it can be activated already during the search and contributes to identifying barrier-free objects quickly. The colored icons on the Wheelmap show how accessible places in the immediate neighborhood are. This makes it easier for people using wheelchairs, rollators or strollers to find a neighborhood that is suitable for them.
