What we do for society

Home Street Home

Together we want to give homeless people a second chance. The HOME STREET HOME initiative is a cooperation between the homeless initiative ONE WARM WINTER and ImmoScout24. Our aim is to help people who currently have no roof over their heads to find accommodation. What is missing is housing - and the right information. That's why we are targeting landlords with HOME STREET HOME, providing information about the benefits, processes and background of the Housing first approach - and trying to convince them to offer their apartments on ImmoScout24 to social organizations that place them with homeless people.

Knowledge transfer - the Berlin Social Academy

In 2013, Scout24 founded the Berlin Social Academy (BSA) and continues to be an integral part of the sponsoring organisation. It is the first Berlin-wide business cooperation project to support local civil society. The idea behind it: Many employees of non-profit organizations need specific expertise for their voluntary work, but do not have sufficient financial resources to pay for further training. During the annual BSA, professional know-how is therefore passed on pro bono by company employees in workshops, webinars or individual coaching sessions. In 2018, the initiative was awarded the special prize of the Berlin Business Award, the German Volunteer Program Award, and has been nominated for the German Engagement Award in 2019.

Corporate Volunteering

The Scout24 Social Summer is our central corporate volunteering format, which gives employees the opportunity to get involved in social, environmental or cultural projects during the summer months. In the period from June to the end of August 2024, we completed a total of 761 hours of charitable work, exceeding our target of 500 hours. Whether sorting food at the Berliner Tafel food bank, cooking meals for Berlin's homeless charity, spending a day at a children's hospice or interacting with refugees: It feels good to do something good.

Partnership with Sozialheld*innen

ImmoScout24 has been working closely with Berliner Sozialhelden e.V. for many years. We provide the organisation with premises, infrastructure and our technical expertise at the Berlin location. In return, the social heroes support us in making our products and services even more accessible for people with mobility and visual impairments. For example, the search criteria on ImmoScout24 can be adjusted to provide step-free access to flats.

The so-called Wheelmap in the maps within the adverts shows wheelchair-accessible locations in the vicinity of the properties. This can be found not only in the property exposé, but also in the results list. It can therefore be activated when searching via the maps and help to quickly identify accessible properties. The coloured icons on the Wheelmap show how accessible places in the immediate vicinity are. This makes it easier for people travelling with a wheelchair, walking frame or pushchair to find a suitable neighbourhood.

Supporting the Berlin City Mission

We have maintained a close partnership with the Berlin City Mission since 2022. Every day, the organisation provides homeless people with basic necessities such as food and clothing. In winter, the City Mission also offers emergency care in the form of cold weather buses and several emergency overnight stays throughout Berlin. Since the beginning of our cooperation, we have supported the Berlin City Mission several times with donations in kind, clothing and money. Scout24 also covers the operating costs of the first laundry for homeless people, which was opened in 2024 on the premises of the City Mission near Berlin's main railway station.
