Women Leader at ImmoScout24: Daniela Fellmann, Teamlead Product Marketing

Daniela Fellmann is Teamlead in the Product Marketing department and has been working at ImmoScout24 for almost six years now. In the interview she told us her the biggest achievements and challenges at work and how she would describe her leadership style. She also shares valuable advice she would like to give to other women.

What’s your position at the company and how would you explain what you do to your grandparents?

Daniela: I work as Teamlead for the Home Seller Marketing Team. I would explain our job to my grandpa like this: We are responsible for attracting as many property owners as possible to our ImmoScout24 platform through a variety of marketing channels. We recommend them the right options for a successful sale, such as a property valuation or selling with or without an agent. We want all ImmoScout24 homeowners to start the sale well informed, to eventually find their way to the service that is right for them, and to end up happy and, above all, successful in this process.

What has been your biggest achievement at ImmoScout24 so far?

Daniela: Personally, I am very proud of the team and the joint success with our products around the property valuation, realtor comparison and price atlas. I was involved from the very beginning and was able to see how a small seedling grew into a major product idea that we helped to develop from the bottom up. Today, this is one of the company's growth products. It's just great to see how product, marketing, sales and analytics work together and what an essential contribution each individual makes to this success story. I love getting up every morning for this spirit.

What has been your biggest challenge at ImmoScout24 so far and how have you mastered it?

Daniela: I can clearly say that the switch caused by Corona to a complete home office was a real and intensive challenge. Even though most of our work is done digitally, new structures had to be created. These allowed all team members to continue working together as good and efficient as before, to stay motivated and to keep in touch. The onboarding for new team members also had to be redesigned and definitely required a lot from all parties. In adition, we adapted both our way of working and our product offering to the situation. For example, we introduced a good morning meeting, which is not just about talking about hard work issues, but simply getting a good start into the day. I think that situations like this always have a positive impact, too, and that in our future day-to-day work after the pandemic, we will be able to combine what we have learned to love with what has been tried and tested in a new work rhythm very well. In any case, we will emerge from the pandemic even stronger than we already were before.

What energises you about your work?

Daniela: I love working with people who all have as much passion for what they do as I do. We celebrate successes together and overcome challenges as a team. Every day is different and diverse - at the same time, you learn something new from every new campaign and meeting formats such as 1:1 or my dialogues. It's especially important to me that I, as a person, can make a real difference in my role and have the freedom to try things out - whether professionally or in leadership style. I'm inspired by seeing my team members feeling comfortable, developing, contributing ideas, questioning things and being proud to be part of the team themselves.

What is your leadership style?

Daniela: For me, the basis is mutual trust and independent work in a pleasant, appreciative atmosphere - because fun, laughter and the recognition of performance is, in my view, a basic requirement for a good team structure.

Personally, I want to be easily approachable and always try to create transparency regarding strategies and decisions. It is very important for me that the team is involved in decisions and that we work together on solutions and ideas. That way, everyone grows beyond themselves and that motivates me.

How do you unplug from work?

Daniela: The best way for me to switch off is when I'm doing sports or traveling. I love camping, hiking or completely throwing myself into foreign cultures. Sometimes, however, a nice visit to a restaurant is enough.

Is there any advice you would want to give to other women?

Daniela: You can do and be anything you want. Always stay true to yourself and your principles and just do it. So why wait?
