Women Leaders at ImmoScout24: Meet Dr. Gesa Crockford, Vice President Product and Pricing

What’s your position at the company and how would you explain what you do to your grandmother?

Gesa: I am Vice President Product and Pricing at ImmoScout24. On the one hand, we offer property seekers a simple, easy and stress-free experience when searching, renting, or buying property. On the other hand, we enable property professionals such as real estate agents to market their properties and run their business as successful and as efficient as possible. My job is - together with my great colleagues - to define what products and services we should offer and to determine what prices these should cost.

As a female leader you are a role model to others. Who’s your role model?

Gesa: What I always look up to are authenticity, competence and passion. I guess that is why I was always deeply impressed by strong female scientists such as Marie Curie or Rosalind Franklin who overcame obstacles and prejudices and managed to have a significant impact in their field. In management women are still quite under-represented. I admire all my female colleagues and peers who, irrespective of this gender imbalance, keep being themselves, follow their passion and convince with their competence.

​​​​How do you make sure to have work-life balance, especially with a family?

Gesa: I have two daughters and soon we will have a dog. I love my family and I love my work and therefore both have their prominent place in normal daily life, which is challenging at times. Most importantly, when something urgent at work or at home pops up, one needs to act accordingly and prioritise. I am grateful that my husband and I act as a team in this and we always manage to find a way. One very important point for me: I try my best to avoid work on weekends and during holidays.

Is there an advice you would want to give to other women? 

Gesa: Career and family are not mutually exclusive - for neither men nor women! Be yourself and follow your passion!
